Marketing Intern Program
Great Projects - Great Managers
A Marketing Internship at SC Johnson gives you training and first-hand
experience in Brand Management. The unique people and culture
of our family company set us apart from all others.
"Excellent
training program, social events as well as challenging and rewarding
program." (Mktg Intern, 2001)
"Great
people, winning brands, good training." (Mktg Intern, 2001)

Projects
Intern assignments are designed to be instructive, challenging and rewarding. They reflect a balance of strategic initiatives and tactical elements, analysis and creative development. A Marketing Intern's real project list looked like this:
- Redesign the consumer activity cycle, lead cross-functional brainstorm
to identify need gaps, work with R&D to find current
technologies/products that can address need gaps and develop
concepts for new product ideas
- Conduct an in-depth analysis of a key competitor
- Manage Promotion budget for new product launch including creative
development
- Participate in Media Planning and Advertising Copy Development for
new product launch
Integration
High levels of exposure to the people and culture at SC Johnson
is important to successful internships. A few of the things
we do to help integrate Interns into the company are:
- Informal Brown Bag Lunches with each of the Business Vice Presidents,
North American President, Worldwide President & CEO,
and Chairman
- Lunch & Learn Case Studies: Provide insight into the "SCJ
Way" and Marketing Best Practices while exposing
interns to other product divisions and managers
- Category Manager Sponsor Groups
- Peer Advisor Program
Training
Structured workshops and informal, interactive sessions taught from a Marketing perspective provide SC Johnson interns with relevant training that can be immediately applied to projects.
Community Service
The Johnson family believes the company and the people who work
here have a responsibility to help make every place a better
place because we are there. Each year, Marketing Interns have
the opportunity to positively impact Racine, Wisconsin, and
test their project management skills by organizing a marketing-wide
Community Service Project. Past projects have built a neighborhood
playground, delivered food to those in need and provided role
models to elementary students in low-income areas.
Social
Don't worry, even with all of that training and responsibility
for key projects, you will still find time to relax and have
fun. In fact, SC Johnson makes sure of it by organizing and
sponsoring many social events that provide great exposure
to the Milwaukee/Racine/Chicago area.
