"Nearly five million children in the United States suffer from asthma and many children experience asthma attacks that might have been prevented. We created Healthy Children, Healthy Homes® to help families recognize and reduce the triggers.
"Our goal is a self-contained program that can be picked up and implemented by health and community organizations anywhere.
"A key part of this program's success is its grass-roots approach that partners with nursing students and involves parents to take the program to elementary school students and their families.
"Asthma attacks can be frightening and frustrating. Healthy Children, Healthy Homes® is working to reduce these attacks one family at a time."
SC Johnson's Healthy Children, Healthy Homes® program began at one elementary school in Miami and reached more than 500 families. Later we expanded it in Miami and in Kansas City and Chicago, reaching more than 3,500 families. In 2007, we hope to reach up to 9,000 families in Los Angeles.
